Summertime Sips

Introducing three different styles of whiskies, ranging from floral to peaty, blended to single malt expressions.

BRUICHLADDICH MICRO PROVENANCE SINGLE CASK 0315

The Islay-based distillery, Bruichladdich, stresses on a true terroir expression with its micro provenance series. Encapsulating the distillery’s sense of adventure, master distiller Jim McEwan releases a single cask each year, picked to highlight a single facet of whisky-making. This year, the spotlight is on the historic Bere barley, for its unique flavours of toasted almonds and herbaceous lift. Aged 10 years in a second fill Syrah barrels, the whisky is unctuous and complex with notes of spice-infused honey, dried apricots, and liquorice. Cask #0315 is allocated exclusively to Singapore with all 282 bottles available for sale locally. $268, 65.2% ABV, One Cellar

ROYAL SALUTE STONE OF DESTINY 38 YEAR OLD

The Royal Salute collection of whiskies is intimately connected to the British monarchy, each celebrating a momentous moment of royal history. The 38-yearold pays tribute to the Stone of Destiny, an integral part of the inauguration ceremony of Kings and Queens for centuries. Presented in a handcrafted doubleglazed porcelain flagon with a 24K gold-plated crest and stopper crown, this blend comprises whiskies aged for a minimum of 38 years. Expect leading notes of orange peel and marmalade giving way to raisins and hint of florals. The palate is velvety, nutty, spicy, and smooth. $1080, www.le-cercle.sg

LOCH LOMOND 18 YEAR OLD

Not many have heard of Loch Lomond, but with the recent launch in Singapore, expect to see more of this elusive brand of single malt whisky. Based in the Highlands, the distillery uses two kinds of stills – the traditional swan-neck pot stills and the unique straight-neck stills giving more flexibility and a cleaner spirit. The 18-year-old is a peated single malt matured in the finest oak barrel sourced from the in-house cooperage. Stewed pear and apple notes, with mature toasted oak aromas and a hint of peat at the finish. $160, 46% ABV, Wine and spirits
