Born in Hue, Chef La Thua An left Vietnam with his family at just six years old, beginning a new life in France. His father, once a respected school principal, found work in a modest Chinese restaurant to provide for his family, and it was here that young An first stepped into the world of flavours. By thirteen, he was helping to prepare Cantonese dishes, layering his Vietnamese heritage with Chinese influence, all while living in a French cultural landscape. This unique upbringing would later shape his vision of cuisine without borders.
At seventeen, he entered the Auguste Escoffier culinary school, where his talent quickly set him apart. While his curiosity sometimes clashed with tradition, his passion and originality earned him the respect of his mentors. Upon graduation, he embarked on a global career, working at luxury resorts from New Caledonia to St. Maarten. Each destination added new depth to his repertoire, refining his mastery of French haute cuisine while cultivating the adaptability and creativity that would become his hallmark.
In 2008, Vietnam called him home. For a decade, Chef La Thua An impressed diners at renowned resorts across the country, reinterpreting Vietnamese flavours through the lens of French precision. Yet in 2018, his desire for creative freedom led him to open The Temptation in Da Nang, a restaurant that would become his true canvas.
