Island Living

Discover Bali, Phu Quoc and Maldives’ newest resorts for that long-awaited family getaway.

JUMEIRAH BALI

Uluwatu is now home to Jumeirah’s first resort in Southeast Asia. Bali’s newest all-villa property and takes its inspiration from the island’s Hindu-Javanese water palace. Perched atop the limestone cliffs, the 123 one- and two-bedroom villas are exquisitely designed to flaunt the ocean and the lush landscape.

An epitome of tropical modernism, each villa has its own private pool and outdoor living area with a pavilion. Opulent details and vernacular tactility pervade the interior. In house guests are provided with exclusive access to a long, pristine beach with a secluded cove. By July, Jumeirah’s award-winning Talise Spa will provide the full experience, including the island’s first traditional Turkish hammam.

Ram Hiralal, General Manager

“What makes Bali so attractive, whether it’s your first or tenth time here, is its unique cocktail of cultures, influences, surfing and spirituality. It is truly a world unto itself. You can be chasing epic Uluwatu waves at dawn, exploring emerald rice paddies and temples in Ubud in the afternoon, and end your day in Seminyak for a spot of excellent shopping. Jumeirah Bali is designed to give travellers access to the best the island has to offer, both in terms of natural wonders and world-class service.

It embodies the first Arabian Balinese hospitality in Bali, offering a thoughtful and genuine service to the guests, making their experience throughout the stay unique and memorable. Led by executive chef Vincent Leroux, our exceptional dining experiences can be found in three signature restaurants and bars. Akasa Gastro Grill offers ancient cooking methods and picturesque views while our oceanfront, all-day dining venue, Segaran, is all about Balinese and South East Asian flavours. Last but not least, Maia Sunset Pool Lounge is perfect for sunset cocktails and gourmet bites.”

REGENT PHU QUOC

With 176 suites and 126 villas, the first Regent Hotels & Resorts made its Southeast Asian debut on the island of Phu Quoc. Located off the southwest coast of Vietnam, the resort is designed by the luxury hospitality design firm, BLINK Design Group. Weaving traditional Vietnamese vernacular with the contemporary needs of today’s seasoned traveller, each accommodation is an airy private haven with views of the gardens or the ocean.

Treatments at The Spa at Regent Phu Quoc combine innovative techniques with natural time-honoured remedies. The Health Club provides a fitness centre, reset meditation studio and rooftop yoga pavilions with experiences designed to elevate the mind, body and soul. Curated by executive chef Bruno Anon, The Taste Gallery consists of six food and beverage venues.

The Rice Market invites guests to taste reinvented classic Vietnamese Chinese cuisine while the Ocean Club offers a Balearic-inspired beachfront destination serving Mediterranean cuisine and rum-based cocktails. Gin-focussed cocktails can be found at the sky pool terrace Fu Bar. The Lobby Lounge serves as a stylish parlour, perfect for coffee and snacks.

Juan Losada, General Manager

“We are located on Phu Quoc Island, also known as Pearl Paradise Island (“đảo ngọc”) by the Vietnamese. Fifty percent of the island is a designated UNESCO – World Biosphere Reserve, and two-thirds are covered in tropical forest. In the new post-pandemic era, the emphasis on privacy and luxury has attained an even greater significance, and the appeal of Phu Quoc as an island tucked away adds to its attraction as a tourist destination. I would say our most distinctive quality would be the Regent Service, an intuitive, in-depth understanding of individual preferences, likes and habits which allows us to curate decadent moments – adding personal touches of inspiration, bespoke care and tailored moments of decadence.

The Regent Experience Agent elevates guest relations to new heights with a meticulous curation of guest experiences and provides a single point of contact for guests to make each stay as seamless and frictionless as possible. In the upcoming months, we will have two additional restaurants and bars. The first one is Oku, the only restaurant with an omakase counter in Phu Quoc, and Bar Jade, a speakeasy showcasing fine artisanal spirits and custom cocktails mixed with fresh local herbs. Guests will also be invited on a journey of discovery through our very own Catamaran, Serenity."

ALILA KOTHAIFARU MALDIVES

Situated in the Raa Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane journey from Malé, the resort is held captive by abundant marine life, clear blue waters and lush vegetation. The Hanifaru Bay UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, a protected marine sanctuary where manta rays and whale sharks feed and breed, is easily accessible from the resort.

Designed harmoniously with the environment, all of the resort’s 44 beachfront villas and 36 overwater villas come with a private pool. Natural textures, soothing colours and contemporary design exudes understated sophistication.

Privacy and comfort are part of the experience. Guests are invited to relax by the infinity pool, get active at the yoga space or fitness centre, and snorkel or dive to one’s heart’s content. Play Alila offers a dedicated play space for the kids while their parents can have some pampering sessions at Spa Alila.

Alexandre Glauser, General Manager

Mirus Bar is the perfect place to enjoy the spectacular Maldivian sunset. It serves cocktails inspired by the region’s former spice trade routes, made with ingredients from our herb garden. Find Japanese cuisine at Umami and Yakitori Bar. For light bites and comfort food, our guests can go to Pibati Café. For the ultimate castaway experience, guests can set sail in a traditional Maldivian dhoni on a two to three-hour journey around the Raa Atoll before returning to the resort’s private sandbank, The Shack, a secluded spot for a gourmet picnic, a sunset barbecue or a romantic candlelit dinner under the stars.”
