Opened on January 15, 2026 in Ben Thanh Ward, the Pho Museum reimagines Vietnam’s most emblematic dish as living heritage. More than a tribute to a beloved bowl, it offers an immersive journey through memory, craft and taste, positioning pho as both a national treasure and a global culinary language.

In a city where food is inseparable from daily life, the Pho Museum arrives as a fitting new landmark. As Vietnam’s first museum dedicated entirely to pho, it invites visitors to look beyond the bowl itself and into the cultural layers that have shaped its enduring place in the national imagination.
Founded by Tran Van Bac, the museum was conceived not simply to honour a famous dish, but to preserve the story behind it. Over more than a century, pho has moved through street corners, family kitchens, shifting eras and distant cities around the world. Along the way, it has carried with it the aromas, rituals and quiet emotional codes of Vietnamese life. Here, that journey is translated into space, image and experience.

Spanning 800 square metres across three floors, the museum is designed as a closed-route experience lasting approximately 60 to 75 minutes. Each level traces a different stage in pho’s evolution, from its modest beginnings as street fare to its status today as a culinary symbol recognised far beyond Vietnam. Rather than treating history as something fixed behind display cases, the museum embraces a more immersive language. Film screenings, archival objects, installation art and interactive exhibits allow visitors to encounter pho as both story and sensation.

What gives the experience its particular appeal is its tactile dimension. Guests are invited to engage with pho beyond observation through cooking activities, demonstrations and tasting sessions that bring the dish to life. Technique, aroma and flavour become part of the narrative, turning the visit into a conversation between knowledge and appetite.
Designed to accommodate diverse schedules, the main exhibition is open daily from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM, while the adjoining dining area serves guests 24/7. The museum anticipates up to 2,000 visitors daily, with a strong appeal to both international travelers and locals.

For visitors from abroad, it offers an accessible entry point into Vietnamese everyday culture. For locals, it presents a fresh and contemporary reading of a deeply familiar heritage. In doing so, the Pho Museum elevates pho from beloved national dish to cultural ambassador, strengthening Vietnam’s food tourism narrative while celebrating the extraordinary story contained in one seemingly simple bowl.

As a newly emerged must-visit attraction, the Pho Museum significantly strengthens Vietnam’s food tourism sector. By uniting history, art, and authentic flavor, it not only cements pho’s rightful place on the global stage but also sets a dynamic new standard for cultural storytelling in the region. It is an unmissable destination for anyone captivated by the rich narrative behind Vietnam's most iconic dish.
