The Art Of Time & Terroir

Runi Indrani

Piemonte’s enduring spirit, captured through three expressions of Enrico Serafino wines.

In the rolling landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato – Italy’s first winegrowing areas to be recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site – the art of patience is not a virtue; it is a way of life. Here, in the heart of Piemonte, every drop of wine reflects a philosophy shaped by time, precision, and respect for nature. Since 1878, Enrico Serafino has embodied what locals call the Piemonte Attitude: a quiet devotion to craft, detail, and endurance – a belief that good things are worth waiting for. Still family-owned after nearly 150 harvests, the winery continues to craft wines the artisan way: with hands that understand the land and hearts that trust its rhythm. This ethos – equal parts humility and mastery – lives on in three bottles that speak to Piemonte’s soul.

Grifo del Quartaro

Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi 2022

From the rolling vineyards of Gavi, this classic white offers a portrait of balance amid challenge. The 2022 vintage was marked by one of the rainiest seasons in recent memory, a year when the vines demanded both patience and intuition. The result is a wine of crystalline freshness – clean, mineral, and vibrant – an elegant interpretation of Cortese grapes that thrive in the commune’s stony soils. It’s the taste of renewal: delicate citrus, subtle florals, and a quiet whisper of the sea breeze that once brushed these hills.

Oudeis Alta Langa

DOCG Metodo Classico Brut Millesimato 2020

If Gavi is the whisper, Oudeis is the echo that lingers. Crafted using the Metodo Classico – the same technique that defines Champagne – this Alta Langa brut is a tribute to precision. The 2020 vintage brought cold winters, generous rains, and a demanding season that tested every decision in the vineyard. But from this patience came elegance: fine, persistent bubbles, a bouquet of white flowers and toasted brioche, and a structure that balances freshness with depth. Oudeis – meaning nobody in ancient Greek – is a nod to humility before nature. The winemaker doesn’t control the wine; he collaborates with it.

Tovasacco Nebbiolo DOC 2022

Where Gavi is luminous and Alta Langa poised, Tovasacco is the heartbeat – deep, complex, and full of character. The 2022 vintage was one of Piemonte’s hottest and driest in history, producing smaller clusters of Nebbiolo but with remarkable concentration. This classic red expresses the resilience of both vine and vintner: layers of red cherry, rose petals, and subtle spice, grounded in elegant tannins that promise longevity. It is, in essence, Piemonte in a glass – refined yet grounded, shaped by heat and patience, and always true to its origins.

Across generations, Enrico Serafino has built more than a cellar – it has cultivated a culture. In a region known for fine tailoring, slow food, and some of the world’s most beautiful machines, its wines are another expression of that same instinct: to make the everyday extraordinary through care, precision, and time.
